Landscape detail / Custom element
The plinth drain consists of custom-designed copper grates developed as an integrated part of the project’s architectural detailing. The grates combine efficient water management with a precise and restrained graphic expression, where function and materiality are closely aligned. Positioned at the transition between building plinth and paving, the grates give rainwater handling a clear and intentional architectural presence.
The copper grates are designed with a strong focus on durability, performance, and material quality. Over time, the copper develops a natural patina, adding depth and character while anchoring the detail within the project’s overall material palette. The perforation pattern is carefully calibrated to ensure effective drainage while establishing a rhythmic surface that relates to the scale and geometry of the surrounding architecture. As a landscape architectural detail, the grates demonstrate how technical elements can be elevated beyond pure function. Rather than being concealed, the drainage becomes a visible and integrated part of the architectural and spatial experience—where necessity is translated into a considered design feature.

Design development, coordination with architectural detailing and paving strategies, and dialogue with fabricators to ensure precision, material performance, and long-term durability.
